Belt Clinics
🥋 Preparing for a Belt Promotion
At Two Dragons Martial Arts, belt promotion is earned through consistent training, practice, and readiness.
✅ Class Attendance
-
Students should attend at least two classes per week. One class per week is not enough for proper progress.
-
If a student can only attend one day a week, they are highly recommended to practice two days at home in addition to class time.
✅ Belt Clinics
-
Students should take advantage of all Belt Clinics to review material for their next belt level or to strengthen their current belt rank.
-
If a student is showing readiness but needs extra support, attendance at a Belt Clinic may be required by the instructor before promotion.
✅ Private Lessons
-
Available for one-on-one support, reassurance, and scheduling flexibility.
-
Designed to help students stay focused and build confidence.
-
Private lessons do not guarantee promotion. Progress depends on consistent practice and regular class attendance.
-
More important than reaching the next level is helping students stay motivated and understand that with steady effort, they improve every day—not just for belt testing.
✅ Promotion Requirements
-
Students must attend a minimum of four classes in the month before promotion. This allows instructors to properly evaluate progress.
-
Instructors will only recommend a student for promotion once they demonstrate knowledge and confidence in their rank material.
-
An invitation to promote is preliminary approval. This means the student has met the basic requirements and is being considered ready to demonstrate their skills.
✅ Parent RSVP & Promotion Fees
-
Before a student may participate, parents must RSVP to the promotion invitation with the number of family members attending.
-
Parents must also submit the promotion fee, which includes:
-
Belt cards
-
Belt ceremony
-
Belt certificate
-
Additional martial arts services needed to prepare students for the next level
-
👉 Parents are encouraged to ask:
-
“Is my child on track for promotion?”
-
“What can we do to help my child prepare?”
